Given dates (all in the Common Era) are approximate and represent the upper and lower possible extremes of the person's lifetime.
Frauwallner supposed [cf. Frauwallner 1937 p. 69, n. 1] that the Tibetan name śākya blo might be an abbreviation for śākya blo gros, which also appears (though he does not give references for the latter). He therefore assumes *Śākyamati to be the correct form of the name. However, Śākyabuddhi is attested in Mahāvyutpatti (Sakaki 1926) 3489 for śākya blo. Moreover, the sequence of Devendrabuddhi (lha dbang blo), śākya blo and 'od kyi blo also suggests the latter form of the name.
